  3. SOME RESULTS IN A NUTSHELL

  5. UVCS has made the first ultraviolet images of the extended solar corona above 1.25 solar radii from Sun center. It has 
  6. observed about 40 spectral emissions in the extended solar corona from neutral hydrogen and ions of carbon, nitrogen, 
  7. oxygen, magnesium, aluminium, silicon, sulphur, iron and nickel.

  9. The first pictures of the extended corona in ultraviolet. The left one is of atomic hydrogen and the right one of highly 
  10. charged oxygen. Material is shaped by the Sun's magnetic field and these 'helmet streamers' extend over 3 million km 
  11. from the Sun's visible edge. The particles reach the velocity of 100 km/s.
